The UNHCR Welcome Program
The “Welcome” project by UNHCR Italy aims to promote the integration of refugees into the labor market by connecting businesses, institutions, and civil society organizations. It is a winning model that demonstrates how inclusion is not only possible but also beneficial for everyone.
The numbers speak for themselves: since 2017, the program has supported over 34,000 refugees in entering the workforce. And in 2023 alone, more than 11,700 professional pathways were initiated thanks to this project.
In addition to giving a second chance to those who have experienced hardship, the employment inclusion of refugees helps bridge the gap between labor supply and demand in Italy. Offering opportunities to those seeking a new life not only improves their prospects but also enriches our society and economy.
